A Styled Shoot With a Modern Industrial Wedding Invite to Match
Distilleries, wineries and breweries are fast becoming hot venues to host weddings. Full of rustic textures, industrial elements, and modern metallics ... there's nothing much traditional about weddings in these locales!
Amber Allen, owner of Allen & Company Photography, created her very own stylized modern industrial wedding at Journeyman Distillery, a fantastic new-yet-historical {working whiskey distillery} venue in southwest Michigan.
The breathtaking shoot also featured one of our very own modern-meet-rustic designs ... and it quite perfectly accents this shoot. Amber even added a fantastic touch to the invite, by applying a copper treatment to the watercolor splashes of the design {see details at the end!}.

"I was actually looking for a single invite set, and MagnetStreet was one of the few vendors that offered just a single set. I wanted something modern with somewhat of a bold font and a unique shape."
Rustic wood floors, metal ceilings, large open windows, and distressed interior elements ... this distillery has so much history ... and dazzling details to offer as a wedding venue.
Fun fact: Amber lent her own wedding dress to the model, and did most of the decor ... including adding/painting in the copper elements herself.
Cascading wedding bouquets are having their moment in time again! Gone are the cascading bouquets of the 1980s, and in their place ... modern-meets-rustic, foliage-heavy bouquets for a chic and not over-styled look.
The copper elements are carried over into these fantastic candle sconces and industrial-feeling light bulbs.
A sweet and simple place setting with shiny silverware and rustic dinnerware.
That cake .... oh, THAT cake. Definitely a modern feel, with splashes of rustic brush-stroked coppery colors and sharp lines.
Definitely a rustic-meets-modern feel ... with this fantastic vintage metal chair and rustic foliage-filled bouquet.
The floor-to-ceiling windows of the distillery offer ample natural light opportunities, and the distressed, natural maple wood floor provides an open palette for wedding day decor.
A little sampling of what this venue offers ...
Just a few meters away ... great photo opps for rustic shots of this gorgeous bride!
Loving the vintage feel of the lacey wedding dress, cascading bouquet, and suspenders!
Not only do great textures like the wooden maple floor and metallic industrial elements abound ... check out the historic limestone brickwork of the walls!
Create your own copper look
"I used copper acrylic paint. I started by applying a small amount to a paint brush and at first, I did not like the effect. I thought I had actually ruined the invite and would have to order another one. I then tried swirling the paint that was already applied with the brush in a circular motion with my fingertip, and loved it! It was a matter of trial and error, which I feel is a must for any artist."
