Erika & Forrest's Rustic Greenhouse Wedding Theme

We love having real weddings to share with you all! Erika and Forrest were married in Birmingham, Alabama at Park Crest Gardens, and their wedding is nothing but gorgeous, elegant, and oh-so-lovely. Erika describes their day as having a rustic greenhouse wedding theme, and we couldn't agree more.

Trendy Greenhouse Wedding Theme

From their palette of blush pink and light slate to the soft lighting and ethereal greenery, their details complemented the natural vibes of the garden venue and brought in a degree of elegance. The flowers and the "mini greenhouse" set up are absolutely charming! Like with any trend, venues go in and out of vogue every few years, and the "greenhouse wedding" is still so popular ... and that is a great thing in our books.

Erika also designed her own invites and uploaded it our site for us to print ... we LOVE her design. Check out all their wedding details!

"I chose MagnetStreet for their quality, price, and ease of working with the software I was using to design the stationery. I have a degree in Interior Design so I wanted to be able to design my own stationary using Adobe Illustrator. MagnetStreet made it so easy to upload my files and ensure that they were printed exactly how I intended. I was able to pull inspiration from all of the designs I liked, use my chosen fonts, and still have a quality product."

"My something borrowed was a broach that was my great grandmothers. My something old was a hair pin that I had worn to prom and my something blue was the bottom of my rocking Betsy Johnson heels. My something new was everything else I wore on that day."

"I found my wedding dress at the second store that I shopped at. I found a dress that I adored at the first store, but it was over twice my budget! Fortunately, at the second store I found one that fit my budget a little bit better. When I first tried the dress on, I thought it was a little too contemporary, but with the help of The Something Blue Shoppe they helped me envision the dress with lace added to the bottom ... which is exactly what I needed to say yes to the dress."

"Forrest and I met while we were both students at Auburn University. Two of our close friends were dating and were determined to set us up, but we were not interested. At the time I had big hopes of moving to NYC after graduation and Forrest had already accepted a job in Auburn. Through much manipulation and a few small fibs about the others interest from our friends, we gave each other a shot and the rest is history!"

"Forrest proposed on New Years Eve at our favorite spot in New York. I had interned there the summer prior and fell in love with Brooklyn Bridge Park and when he visited me, he fell in love with it as well. We took a couples trip back to the city for New Years and he popped the question and even arranged for a photographer to capture it all. Despite the -8 windchill, it was everything we had ever imagined!"

"I chose the colors of a subtle pink and a light slate for our wedding. I really struggled selecting a concept when I initially started planning, but by the end it came together as what I would consider a 'Rustic Greenhouse' wedding."

"We decided to not do a first look. My husband and I are both a little traditional at heart and had always envisioned not seeing each other until I walked down the aisle. It was completely worth it!"

"My favorite photo of the day is the photo with my new husband and my pup licking a popsicle. Everyone thought we were slightly crazy for including our dog, but having gotten him while we were dating he has become a big part of our relationship. I love that photo in particular because it was not overly thought through. It was just us striking a pose with our pup Shep."

"We decided to go with something very simple for our wedding cake. My husband grew up eating the strawberry cake from Edgar's Bakery in Birmingham so we did alternating tiers between strawberry and a traditional vanilla cake."

"Other than the obvious highlight of marrying my best friend, we really enjoyed seeing all of our friends and family coming together on the dance floor. Looking back we have so many priceless photos of everyone having a great time and celebrating our new life together."

"The biggest piece of advise I would give is to start incorporating sentimental details from the beginning. When we first started planning, we focussed so much on making everything customized that we forgot to add in elements of sentiment until the very end. Fortunately, we were able to squeeze in a few things that meant a lot to us. My now husband and father built our arbor by using lumber that had belonged to my late great grandfather. Another sweet surprise is that my grandmother potted a few succulents to sit on the outside tables. Just a few days before the wedding, we found out that they were actually cut from my great grandmothers succulents that she grew many years ago. In the end, our wedding felt incredibly sentimental. I just wish I had started incorporating those things from the start."
