Rustic Modern Wedding with Sparkly Reception

Rustic Modern Wedding in the Backyard

Richard and Kelly had two totally different feels to their wedding! Their ceremony was held a little ways out of town and in Richard's parent’s yard--in the middle of a field. Kelly wanted the whole “in the middle of nowhere feel” and she got it! So, in front of all their favorite people, they said their "I Dos" in a gorgeous and simple ceremony. The rain even held off--just for them! We're thrilled to bring you Kelly and Richard's rustic field ceremony and modern sparkly reception. Enjoy as our beautiful bride walks us through some highlights from their joyful, vibrant day.

About the day...
It rained the whole day in Thunder Bay. Having an outside ceremony with a SMALL backup plan was very stressful! Richard kept calling my mom and telling me to make the call. Of course I wanted to wait another half an hour every time. By an hour before the ceremony it was still raining and I said “let’s just go for it!” We were supposed to marry at 1:00pm and all of a sudden at 12:50, the rain stopped and it got really sunny. We got married and by the time we finished and took a couple of family pictures, it started pouring again. It was perfect!

Best part of the whole wedding day...
Coming down the aisle and seeing my husband to be as well as the many many people that drove 45 minutes to watch us get married!

Advice you’re glad you took...
Enjoy the day! Be really organized and make sure everything is all put together as of the night before and then just enjoy! People tell you the day goes by fast and boy, were they right! Take the time to stop and look at the people around you and take in every moment!

Advice you wish you’d taken...
YES! If people tell you not to go with a vendor for this reason and that reason… listen to them! I am a person that gives everyone a chance and some of my stuff wasn’t exactly like I wanted it!

Advice you’d like to give...
The only thing that I didn’t realize until after the wedding... was that the flowers are the biggest chance you take when it comes to the wedding. You don’t usually see your bouquets until they arrive the morning of. Just make sure you make everything that you want VERY clear and a picture of what you want does wonders! The last thing you want is coming home the morning of your wedding after your hair appointment to flowers that you really didn’t ask for!

About your dress...
My dress was a very simple Maggie Sottero that went straight down but was very sparkly on the top. I needed something that fit with both the field wedding as well as the bling at the reception. I wore David’s Bridal blinged out flip flops for comfort and my flowers were a mixture of white flowers wrapped with a blue ribbon.

Highlight of the wedding reception...
Another something that was special to my heart was our first dance. Aside from my full time job, I am a dance teacher and while my husband and I were having our first dance, eight of my dancers danced around us. It was so special for everyone to watch and we even had grown men in tears!

Wedding Pro Shout Out

Jamie Dawn Photography
I would like to throw a shout out to Jamie Dawn Photography as she was just amazing during the day! Capturing every moment (especially the moments in the rain) and following through with every request I had, she was simply amazing!

MagnetStreet Weddings
MagnetStreet has been amazing. I ordered my Save the Dates, Shower Invites, Wedding Invites and Thank Yous from this Company! My Save the Dates were on Magnets, which everyone loved because no one lost the date of the wedding because it was easily on their fridge! Every time I signed in, they had my colours from the previous order so everything matched! I loved how I could work on my wedding invites and save the file to come back to later!

I feel like MagnetStreet has designs to fit EVERY different situation you would be in when it comes to invites! I remember when looking for a design for my wedding invites, I was torn between three different options! I love the fact that I could order a “Just One” invite to see how they would turn out before committing to ordering hundreds of their product! I also loved the fact that they take what you paid for the “Just One” and included that cost in the total of my final order.
