by: A wedding in an old post office ... we love it! Kentucky couple, Megan and Chris, met through their mutual friend, Amy, not long after Megan decided to take a break from dating. She gave it another try after a bit of encouragement from Amy. Megan and Chris were set up on a date, and the rest is sweet history! Fast forward to today and to their fantastic vintage post office wedding.

Megan and Chris' proposal story
"Fast-forward almost three years later, after many curveballs thrown our families way, Christopher decided to pop the big question (finally!) as I was leaving for work the day before Christmas Eve. My first response was that he was going to make me mess up my make-up before work (cue the water works!) then through the happy tears I said 'YES!' without hesitation. Followed immediately by, 'So, does May 12, 2018 work for you?'"
A very sentimental "something borrowed, blue, old, and new"
"While trying to decide what to use for old, new, borrowed, and blue the new came easy (my dress). But, I struggled to figure out what/how to incorporate to cover the other three. My mother, however, had an idea that helped cover them all. At my bridal shower she handed me a box that held my stepfather, Lacy’s, class ring (that had a blue stone). It held a very sentimental value because he essentially raised me, but we unexpectedly lost him three months prior to Christopher’s proposal. He had only been gone about 1.5 years. My mother knew I wished he could’ve been there to walk me down the aisle, so having a piece of him attached to my bouquet was such a wonderful feeling. We also attached my grandfather’s class ring to my bouquet as a memento, as he passed a few months prior. On such a happy, joyous day no one really wants to dwell on loss of loved ones but, there was a certain comfort that came along with remembering the ones that couldn’t be there that day."

A very special first look
"I did have a first look with our sons Aaden and Jaxson before they led the way down the aisle. Christopher and I did not do a first look. It was a surreal experience walking through the door and seeing him down the aisle waiting on me, it was like no one else was in the room except for us."
A simple search for the most exquisite wedding dress
"Picking my wedding dress had to be the most simple and quick process. I looked mainly online and found a dress I just knew was made for me. When I made the appointment to go try the dress on, I took my mother, maid of honor, and a family friend. I told them I knew the dress I chose was the one, but they could pick out a couple for me to try on just in case. I think I tried on four dresses total and saved my pick for last. When I stepped out in my dress everyone agreed it was perfect, and in the matter of 30 minutes we had it ordered."
Most difficult part of wedding planning
"The most difficult thing (other than staying on budget) was choosing colors! I am a planner and pretty much had our wedding planned before Christopher ever proposed. But, we were back and forth on what colors we wanted to go with for the longest time. I think we finally settled on our colors the day before my bridal party was scheduled to go dress shopping. I’m sure I drove my ladies crazy with all those group messages asking for opinions."
Highlight of the day
"It’s difficult to pick just one moment of our special day to say was the highlight, but the reception itself was such an awesome time. Being surround by our family and friends laughing, dancing, and celebrating us as a newly married couple made every second of planning completely worth it. From visiting the photo booth to snapping a goofy picture, to the 90’s-00’s pop mix dance circle ... the good times didn’t stop. Just thinking back on that evening brings a mile-wide smile to my face!"
Wedding cake and treats ... and how they were chosen
"We went with a single-tier vanilla bean cake with cream cheese icing to cut and 500 mini cupcakes to allow for a more variety of flavors for our guests to choose from. Including our sons in the wedding plan was a huge priority, so when we went to the cake tasting they joined and got to pick out their favorite flavors to serve. I’m sure that was their personal favorite part of wedding planning!"
First dance = most fun detail to plan
"After explaining to Christopher that I didn’t want to stand in one spot swaying for four minutes to a song, he suggested taking a dance class. Our first dance was to Christina Perri’s ‘The Words’ and it was hands down the most fun detail to plan! We practiced for a couple months prior and through the nerves of dancing in front of others managed to get the routine down. Our guests commented on how unexpected and beautiful our first dance was ... also that they never knew Christopher was so light on his feet!"
Advice to other couples
"During the planning process, I think staying organized and learning how to accept help/delegate tasks to those willing to help is key. Things can get hectic and crazy at times, but come the big day ... every second will be worth it all. Plus, on the day of, remember to take a moment with your new husband to just step back and absorb all the love and happiness surrounding your marriage."
