A Private Wedding? Isn’t That An Oxymoron?

Does it seem like private wedding ceremonies are gaining in popularity? With a break-away from the traditional, couples are discovering that they truly can have their wedding, their way.

Some couples run away and elope, saying their vows in less traditional surroundings.

Others plan an intimate ceremony on a nearby beach or in a private garden.

And, still others sequester themselves in the Caribbean and perform their nuptials with no-one watching.

But, isn’t the wedding day all about being surrounded by everyone you know and love?
Maybe not. If the marriage that follows is more important than the wedding day itself, perhaps these off-stage wedding ceremonies aren’t such a half-baked idea after all.
Bustling weddings with elaborate ceremonies and extravagant receptions will always be with us and definitely meet the criteria of many a bride. But, for couples who want a quieter and simpler way or, as Heidi mentioned a few days ago, don’t particularly enjoy being the center of attention less could be the more they’re looking for.
Beautiful. Meaningful. Private. Maybe we can have it all.
