Include Dad in the Planning Too!

Julie and Nick Save the DateWe featured Nick and Julie waaay back in October when they first got engaged {Julie is one of our Customer Care Specialists}.  She and Nick have been busy as bees, planning their August 2009 wedding.  Here they are all adorable  in their Save the Date magnet {Delicate Outline}.  Originally-designed in blue, Julie and Nick changed the colors to a gentle shade of green that reflects their wedding colors... very nice guys... soft and organic.

Julie mentioned how her Dad was instrumental in making the favor boxes for their guests.  It got me thinking just how important your Dad {or that special gentleman in your life} can be during your wedding planning too.

So... what is Dad's role anyways?

First off, there are too many jokes to my liking~ about Dads being the pocketbook... simply doing and dressing like they're told... that they don't have opinions, etc. etc.  So when I hear about an involved Dad, I get all warm and fuzzy inside.

Ladies, allow or get your Dads involved!  There is so much they can do to help PLUS think of the great memories you'll be making and sharing.  Aside from getting you to the church on time, soothing your wedding day nerves, wiping your happy tears, telling you how beautiful you look and initiating the reception with the first toast~ in what other ways can they be involved in your wedding planning?

Take advantage of their big, strong shoulders and invite their help and their opinions.  Here are a couple of starter ideas: hospitality for your OOT guests {accommodations, arranging for their transportation, help filling/designing the welcome baskets...} putting together the playlist for your older guests {& definitely the father/daughter dance}... what else?

Other ideas?  I would LOVE to hear how your Dad is involved in the planning?

Julie's dad works for a company that makes specialty boxes so Julie worked with her dad to customize these boxes picking out the materials, dye color and font to personalize them with.  What a great memory to have shared with your Dad, Julie.  {Julie and Nick will fill the favor boxes with chocolate and wrap them in green ribbon.}
