Today's real wedding is extra special because we're featuring MagnetStreet family! Kara's mom Nancy is one of our amazing Customer Care Reps and Kara used to intern with us ~ mostly during the summer, when she was home from college. Another beautiful detail is that Kara's dad married them! Needless to say, it's a pleasure to feature Kara and Abel's wedding! And how beautiful Kara looked. Beautiful indeed. The hardest part was choosing which incredible images and details to share! Enjoy~ from the vibrant color scheme, to their rock-star entrance into their reception.
Kara and Abel were married August 15, 2010. Their ceremony and reception was held along the banks of the Mississippi River at the Riverwood Inn in Otsego, MN. Capturing all the love, is Twin Cities photographer Monika Rae of Monika Rae Photography. For their save the dates, invitation suite and wedding programs, they personalized the sweet and whimsical design of Summer Meadow from MagnetStreet Weddings {featured at the bottom of the post}.
So Kara, tell us about your day ...
Our Wedding Style I wanted the wedding style to be a little vintage and very fun. I didn't want it to be traditional. I wanted unique! It was full of our personalities and that was exactly what I wanted.
About Your Dress I ordered my wedding dress online! I found the designer and style that I liked the most, then went and tried it on in a store, then ordered the "knockoff" online. It worked great! It was hundreds of dollars cheaper and you would have never known that it wasn't the real designer dress. I ordered it from www.bestdressprice.com.
Our colors were orange and green. They were bright colors~ almost reddish orange and lime green.
Highlights of the day The entire day was fun and there were highlights everywhere. My favorite parts of the ceremony were the songs incorporated. Abel's aunt sang Shania Twain's "Forever and For Always" and we sang the worship song "In Christ Alone."
About Your dad marrying you It was so fun having my dad marry us! I thought it would make me cry more, and I was sure he wasn't going to make it through, but he did! It was definitely special. He had fun with it too, and of course enjoyed making everyone laugh.
When the ceremony was over, we walked out to the "Pirates of the Caribbean" theme song.
Advice from the bride Don't sweat the small stuff! There will be things that go wrong and there's nothing you can do about it, so you might as well make the best of it! Enjoy one of the best days of your life!
One piece of advice I wish I'd taken was to mingle with the guests more. Everything went by so fast that I didn't get a chance to talk to everyone and I wish that I did.
My favorite part of our whole wedding day was our entrance into the reception. Our wedding party walked into the "Top Gun" theme song with sunglasses on and dance moves to go with them! When Abel and I entered it was the climax of the song and we rocked out with our Guitar Hero guitars in hand. It was an absolute blast and everyone loved it!
The piece of advice I was glad I took the most was "Don't sweat the small stuff." Things went wrong almost all day long, but I learned not to sweat it. It was still going to be a fun day and I shouldn't let the little things ruin it. And it worked!
What a pretty, fun and high energy wedding! Thanks Kara and Abel for sharing your lovely and visual treat of a day with the world. Much joy and happiness to you both. xoxo
