This stunning couple may look familiar to you! We featured their The Great Gatsby engagement shoot last summer ... and now they're married! Blaire and Sam carried their unique theme over into their fabulous Art Deco wedding day, and the results are simply lavish ... like something out of a super cool vintage film. The Details Couple: Blaire & Sam Location: Sacramento, CA | Haggin Oaks Pavilion Theme: Art Deco & The Great Gatsby The proof is in the photos by their photographers at Mr & Mrs. Photography! With a dress code encouraged for the vintage glam celebration—guests donned flapper fashion pieces, feathers in their hair, Old Hollywood-styled dresses, newsboy hats, and pinstriped suits. It was definitely a scene straight out of The Great Gatsby! We’ll let their gorgeous Art Deco-esque photos take you back in time to the 1920's, along with Blaire's highlights of their glamorous (fun) day! Saying "Yes" To The Dress(es) "Where do I begin! So I tried on a million (or what felt like a million) dresses! I live in Sacramento and went to LA, San Francisco, Walnut Creek, and a few other cities to find the right dress. I originally wanted three dresses ... the tight/form fitting/sparkling mermaid dress ... and fun ball gown to dance in ... and my traditional Chinese dress called a Cheongsam (my husband is Chinese). But after shopping and having a hard time finding the first dress, I decided that two dresses were enough. I found my dress in November on Allure's website but was told that it was a Spring 2016 dress so it would not actually arrive in stores until late January/ early February. So I waited ... and I'm glad I did because the dress was perfect!" Advice for Other Couples Planning Their Wedding "Do what YOU want. Everybody gets worried if they are spending too much, but honestly ... it's your day! It will only happen once, so go all out! Obviously, you don't want to get married and be deep in debt ... BUT do NOT eliminate things you envisioned for your big day!" First Look? "My husband and I are rather traditional (aside from our theme!) so we decided NOT to do a first look." Favorite Photo of the Day “My amazing photographer was able to capture the photo right where we kissed at the altar. It was so perfect! The sun was shining behind the tree, my maid of honor’s expression was that of excitement, and my husband looks so excited to kiss his new wife!” Photo by MagnetStreet Deco Glam Pocket Wedding Invite from MagnetStreet Weddings “When I searched ‘Great Gatsby wedding invites,’ MagnetStreet kept coming up. So I gave them a try by ordering their samples for our save the dates. They turned out great … there was no turning back! I trusted their work and was beyond satisfied with the quality they provided. Also, they always had a sale or special. In this day and age, any discount is greatly appreciated. I will be using them for all future products!" Wow! Art Deco Wedding Cake "My wedding cake was from Something Sweet Bakery in Galt, California. It was everything I imagined AND SOME! It was five tiers, and each layer was a different shape. It was so Great Gatsby! It had handmade jewels, edible gold specs, Art Deco designs, and it was topped off with a feather. The cake flavor was almond with a chocolate ganache filling. My husband loves red velvet, so two layers were red velvet with raspberry filling and chocolate shavings." Highlight of the Day "When my husband gave a speech honoring his parents and he broke down and started crying." Blaire's Traditional Chinese Dress "My husband's aunts took me to San Francisco to be measured and had a custom Cheongsam made for me." Looking Forward to the Honeymoon ... "We depart for Asia on October 3, 2017 (our wedding was 10/01/16) and will be going to Beijing, Shanghai, and Vietnam. We will be gone for 22 days! Well worth the wait!"
