by: St. Paddy's Day is here! Bright greens, shiny golds, rainbows, leprechauns, dancing a little jig ... the list goes on with Irish imagery and traditions. And believe it or not, there is a way to incorporate the Irish spirit into an elegant St. Patrick's Day wedding event that's full of sophistication and class.
Well, get excited. Because a fantastic team of Topeka, Kansas-area wedding vendors put together an elegant St. Patrick's Day wedding photo shoot just this past weekend ... and they're sharing it with us {and you!}
Sit back with your Irish coffee, and enjoy this stunning session featuring married couple, Rachel and Heath. Learn a bit of Irish tradition from their photographer Emma, and be inspired by the prettiness and elegance of the day {oh ... and be jealous of their gorgeous red hair!}.
The apple cake is an Irish tea cake, made bridal by making it a double layer cake with a whipped cream filling. {Yum!}
The table runner is inscribed in gold ink with an Irish blessing, while the back of their chairs have horseshoes for good luck.
Bells are added to the place settings, as they are traditionally intended for the couple to ring them when they are having marital disputes to remind them of their vows.
The vision for the shoot was to have a red-headed couple showcasing Irish wedding traditions against a backdrop of green hills. But ... snow happens. So instead, we're treated to a dreamy, wintery spin of St. Patrick's Day elegance!
At the end of the session we had a mock handfasting ceremony, which is an Irish tradition intended to literally bind their hands for a moment and to symbolically represent their commitment to one another. The couple would typically keep and display the ribbons somewhere in their home.
While shooting, it was so clear to me that their five years of marriage only grew their love for one another with the way. Heath absolutely treasured spending time with Rachel. Despite being chilly, they were nothing but joyful!
