Ceremony & Reception: Gray Gables Estate {Portland, OR} with an outdoor ceremony and indoor reception.
Wedding Style: Somewhere between modern and traditional with a hint of Korean culture

Bubbles and Orchids We placed one bubble tube on each chair so everyone had bubbles to blow when we walked out. We also ordered a box of a thousand small orchids from our florist and used them for tossing during our exit. We also tied 2 orchids together with a copper wire and put them on top of the napkin at the reception.
About the Gift Ceremony My family moved from South Korean when I was 13 and my husband's family moved here from Taiwan when he was 10. We come from two very different cultures. Korean culture is a big part of me, but I didn't want to push my culture on David's family. So instead of doing a full bow ceremony, we decided to do gift ceremony for the parents and grandparents. Bowing in Korea is sign of respect and honor, and we felt like we would be able to express respect and honor by gifting them with presents.
Also, in Korean tradition the mother of the bride wears pink and mother of the groom wears blue, green, or purple. So if you look closely at our cake table, we put pictures from David's parents' wedding and my parents' wedding (also a way of honoring them). In my parents' wedding picture, my mom's mom is wearing a pink Korean dress and my dad's mom is wearing green.
One of reasons we chose this is because of the lights they had all around - the whole place looks like a fairy tale at night.
Advice Boram received but wished she would have taken Don't forget to eat! We got to eat a little bit, but not enough. Make sure you get to taste the wine and beer you picked out, the entree, and of course, your wedding cake! And, make sure your bridal party eats, too. The majority of my bridal party didn't get to try the wedding cake.

More from Boram... Everyone told me "expect something to go wrong on your wedding day - your cake might fall, your dress zipper my break, etc." I prepared a huge "emergency kit" with all kinds of medications, tapes, buttons, and sewing kit in it. Surprisingly enough, everything during ceremony and reception went according to our plan. But my husband and I started planning for the wedding since the day we got engaged, so we were planning for about 18 months! We booked all of our vendors at least 12 months before the wedding day.
It's important to keep track of how much deposit you've paid each vendor and to save the contract and receipts. Most importantly, we planned everything, but having a wedding coordinator on the day of was a huge help. She made sure everything went smoothly on the wedding day.
