Confidence is preparation. Everything else is beyond your control. {Richard Kline- American Actor}
Without driving yourself crazy over every "what if" imaginable- it's a very good idea to be "wedding day prepared" and have a Plan B in certain cases! Stuff happens ... but if you're prepared, you can feel confident about handling whatever comes your way!
NO WORRIES ... check out our preparation tips below:
Wedding Planning and Preparing for Plan B
Get organized!
Easy & fun! Download our free "Wedding Planning Checklist" to help you stay organized right from the beginning. You can even personalize it!
Wedding Vendors:
Always always research your vendors and ask for referrals from those you trust! Experienced professionals will already be versed in the following- but it's important that you know what to ask too!
Avoid no-shows- Confirm wedding date, time, and place with each vendor 2-4 weeks ahead of time.
Confirm & get special requests in writing i.e. 10 diabetic meals, cake flavors, extras, etc.
Establish expectations: i.e. don't assume your photographer will capture everything you want them to- let them know which shots are important to you. Give your DJ/band play lists as well as DO NOT play lists ...
Wedding Venues
Outdoor wedding? Be prepared for:
Rain- from sprinkles to storms ... Know where you can quickly purchase umbrellas and have a tent company ready to erect a tent with walls- if needed.
Hot temps- make sure you have enough water bottles available ... DIY fans ... Shade ... is there enough of it during your wedding time ...
Sprinklers- seems like something easy to overlook- but confirm that they won't go off during your wedding.
Pathways/landscaping- make sure it's safe for older guests and/or accessible by wheelchair, crutches, etc.
Bathroom accessibility- evaluate location {too far away, not enough facilities...}.
Day of Wedding timeline
Create and print out wedding day timelines for everyone: your attendants, vendors, officiate, parents, etc. That way, everyone will be on board and on time with when and where they are supposed to be- i.e. pictures, toasts, cake cutting, etc.
Emergency Kits
Anticipate not only the needs of yourself but also the wedding party and maybe even the guests. Here is a list of some of the items you may need: a first aid kit, shoe polish, toothbrushes/toothpaste, combs, lip balm, water bottles, snacks {if it's a long time between meals}, moleskin for new shoes, Tide-pen {for stains}, clear nail polish {for runny hoses}, brown/black socks {for groomsmen that come with white ones}, hairspray ... what else?
