Age-old question~ should you elope or not? Raised among many and with considerable passion~ is the argument that eloping is selfish. Plenty of others would counter-argue saying that (depending on the destination) eloping can certainly be much cheaper... There aren't the headaches and hassles from well-meaning and not so well-meaning relatives to deal with... Romantic... Quick...
Personally, I wanted and needed the experience of the wedding itself. I wanted the blessings, congratulations and well-wishes of family and friends to jump start our life together. Is that selfish?
I really don't think deciding to elope is an easy 1-2-3 decision to make. Does eloping, followed by a reception for family and friends at a later date suffice? Do family and friends deserve an explanation? Each situation is unique, for sure. What does a wedding celebration mean to you?
What do you think? Regardless if you're married at the courthouse, Bermuda or the church up the street, you're still married in the end. Isn't that what's really important?
