Sure, you can woo your Valentine by sending flowers, buying chocolates and signing your name to a mushy greeting card. But, there’s so much more you can do…
The celebrated day of love and romance is right around the corner but it isn’t sold at Hallmark. Romancing someone is more about forgoing your own interests and desires for the interests and desires of the one you love. Pay attention to what makes them happy. Is it adventure, sports, the opera, Ethiopian cuisine, dancing, etc.? Hint: You may not want to publicly parade your two left feet, but by putting on your dancing shoes and stepping out, you are sending a clear message of love and sacrifice. BTW, sprinkling a little surprise and spontaneity adds to the fun and excitement of any endeavor. Ideas to get you started:
For your funny Valentine~ take her out for a night at the comedy club or send hilarious e-cards throughout the day. Maybe you dislike hockey but he lives for the game; surprise him with tickets for the two of you. Cook a favorite meal. Light candles and watch a movie (where nothing gets blown up). Go whitewater rafting, take a walk in the rain, a train trip, or just a midnight stroll. One of my personal favorites~ stargaze. Alas, there's the ever-romantic, centuries-tested, love letter written straight from the heart, of course.
So, prepare a special outing, gift, love letter for your Valentine that is... out of love and out of the ordinary!
