Wedding Insurance, Should You Have It?

We purchase insurance in order to protect our investments against loss and for the peace of mind it gives~ you just never know...  We think nothing of buying insurance for our cars, health, home, etc. I even have legal and identity theft coverage now.
Weddings can get awfully expensive and often times, couples are putting down non-refundable deposits with many vendors.  Those that purchase wedding insurance would be protected against circumstances that are “beyond their control” and reimbursed for their losses.

What exactly is beyond their control? Say the bridal dress company goes out of business or the caterer decides he hates the Minnesota winter (imagine that) and takes your non-refundable deposit and a pair of shorts to Rio?

Depending on your policy, wedding insurance would protect you in these regrettable circumstances.  Of course, each policy has varying levels of coverage and you would want to carefully consider your needs and understand the policy before you sign it!

Do you need wedding insurance?
Are you getting married in a location that would not be covered anyway? Please talk with a financial counselor or a professional who can help you make the right decisions.
Limitations
As with any contract, there are exclusions that you will want to be aware of so you are not unpleasantly surprised if you are expecting one outcome and receive another.  Again, take the time to make sure you understand the limitations of your policy.
Is purchasing wedding insurance a good idea? or not?
