Practical Tips Wherever you choose as your destination wedding, I have some practical tips to help you have an exciting and romantic wedding that's also budget-saving and maybe even stress free.

6 Practical Destination Wedding Tips

1. If leaving the country, check with the embassy and the U.S. State Department regarding laws and travel advisories.

2. Hire a local wedding coordinator This one is so practical, it can easily be overlooked in the interest of saving money. BUT, a professional {who specializes in destination weddings} will be familiar with not only the local laws but other vendors,AND has insight into the dos and don't of the area. They're in the know! Find the right pro... use your resources to get referrals and then check them.

2. Discounts Ask about package discounts: hotel, travel, local attractions. If you're flying, ask the airline carrier about group travel discounts. The worst anyone can say is no.

3. Save the Date Send them ASAP- especially if it's around a holiday! Give your guests plenty of time to make arrangements. Remember, they're arranging for time off work, childcare, the need to save...  Use your Save the Date as a handy resource that includes travel info, websites, phone numbers, and your wedding website.

4. Create a wedding website Here's a great opportunity to create anticipation, excitement and keep family and friends updated about the wedding.

5. Keep the interests and pocketbooks of your guests in mind a big one! Carefully consider their interests and additional costs before you fill the calendar. It's their vacation too.

6. Wedding Insurance Determine if you need it! Ask about what's covered, what's not... Does your destination have a bearing on the coverage? You'll want to talk with a financial counselor or a professional who can help you make the right decisions. As with any contract, there are exclusions...  take the time to make sure you understand the limitations of your policy.
