How to Stay Motivated

It's January 21st, 2010. And while I know you know the date, it's usually right about now that we {and when I say we I mean me} start to hem, haw and traverse the slippery slope of misplaced intentions and lame excuses about not meeting our goals for the brand new year!

Because let's face it...before you know it, it's December 31st again...

Well, it just so happens that I was heading down this slippery slope quite recently~ lame excuses and all when my good friend reminded me that it's ok... that sometimes, you just need to do some tweakin!

Further encouragement came in the January issue of Real Simple magazine with an article entitled Nine Secrets of Motivated People. Here is a summation:

1. anticipate bumps plan for obstacles and make the necessary adjustments to overcome them

2. believe you can do it! Enuf said.

3. don't let your goals run wild goals must be a stretch but not unattainable

4. go public with your goals it's about accountability

5. lean on your support system friends want you to succeed

6. make yourself a priority

7. challenge yourself & change it up avoid boredom

8. keep on learning enjoy the process of getting to the goal

9. remember the deeper meaning remind yourself of the true personal significance of your goal

Additionally, Peter from Storyboard Life blog has a great post up entitled Five Steps to Reaching Your Goals He gets down to specifics about how to set goals and see them through. It's a good read. I definitely encourage you to check it out!!

So... Let's do it! Let's get off the slippery slope and back on the horse!  It's our lives we're talking about!

Cheers to being positive, productive and achieving what we set out to do in this wonderful new year we have!

Best,

Heidi
