Austin Engagement Photography: Christine & Darrick

Absolutely adorable--that's how we describe Christine and Darrick's Austin, Texas engagement session. And trying to choose which photos to publish was no easy task either--they are all adorable! Christine and Darrick's personalities shine through the photos and with each color-rich and texture-laden shot, we also get a flavorful taste of Austin too. It's easy to imagine them "traipsing" all around the city discovering this spot and that ...

Christine and Darrick are "Saving the Date" of September 8, 2012 for their big day. Enjoy this fun and colorful tour of Austin as well as the glimpse into Christine and Darrick's personality and wedding style!

Wedding Style Classic, Chic & Romantic
I’ve let the style evolve as I go along planning, but I love what it’s turning into. It’s hard to pick one word to describe it, but you could say classic, chic, and romantic.

Wedding Colors Red, Purple, Pink & Lavender
I wanted to incorporate our favorite colors so I chose red (the groom’s favorite color), purple (my favorite color), pink, and lavender.

Engagement Session Location
We started out our session on South Congress Avenue in Austin, Texas which is lined with funky local shops, restaurants, and food trailers. Every corner has a mural or bright colored wall, very convenient for spontaneous picture taking. We traipsed about behind many of the buildings, finding grassy hills and funky fences along the way. Some of our favorite finds include a red and white striped stage background, the “I love you so much…” mural, and a culvert which we had a lot of fun trying to sit in. It happened to be "First Thursday" on South Congress Avenue, a local festival held once a month, so we listened to bands playing just about every block, like our own personal session sound track.

I made “Of Course” and “That’s what she said” signs for us to hold to add a little humor with our photos. Our session continued at Austin City Hall and Ladybird Lake lined with beautiful trees and Texas wild flowers all with a stunning sunset as our backdrop.  We had a blast!

We love Austin, Texas and our wedding will be held here in September this year. I wanted to take our pictures somewhere fun so I chose South Congress Avenue.

Vendor Shout Outs

Andy Sams Photography
Andy was amazing to work with. We were stunned when we received our engagement pictures and loved how colorful our photos turned out! We are looking forward to him photographing our wedding.

MagnetStreet Weddings
A friend of mine referred me to MagnetStreet. I love that you can customize colors and font to make it your own.  Some of the colors I had originally chosen for the Save the Date would have shown up too dark, but customer care was there to check my design before production. They helped lighten the colors, so that the wording would show up better.  I was very pleased with the end result and cannot wait to order our wedding invitations next.

Thanks Christine and Darrick--thanks so much for sharing your fun day with us!
