Finding the dress
"Finding my wedding dress was one of the best parts of planning the wedding. I went to several places to look at dresses and had a range of experiences at the bridal salons. The dress I chose was not only because I absolutely loved it ... but also because the experience I had when looking. One of the reasons I looked at so many dresses was because I wanted to wait to pick THE dress until my mom was in town. My mom lives on a sailboat and travels around the world so I knew I would not pick THE dress until my mom was with me. My mom encouraged me to take my time and try on as many dresses as I wanted ... and I’m so glad I did."
"I found my dream wedding dress at Wren Bridal in Annapolis, MD. My sister and I actually found the salon when I saw a picture of their salon on Baltimore Bride’s Instagram page. It looked so beautiful, that I knew I had to go look. Erica helped me find my dress. From the minute we walked into the salon, we loved it. We had the shop completely to ourselves. I appreciated so much how Erica {at Wren Bridal} was when I tried on my dress. I never felt pressured. I honestly felt like she was just a friend helping me find my dress. Even though she gave me the option to come back, I knew it was the dress. "
The first look
"My husband and I decided to do a first look for several reasons: time constraints with pictures; I had a gift I wanted him to see before the wedding; and I wasn’t sure if I would make it down the aisle without ugly crying if we didn’t see each other first. We both had so many emotions on the wedding day, and I think it was a perfect way to collect ourselves before I walked down the aisle and we said our vows."
How they met
"We started dating the summer before I entered 9th grade and him 11th grade. We worked together during that summer at a local cafe. For our first date, we walked out to the Turkey Point Lighthouse in the Elk Neck State Park. The view is breathtaking at the top of the cliff overlooking the Chesapeake Bay. After 9 years together he asked me to go for a hike on one of the warmest days in December 2015. After hiking to the top with two of our best friends, I turned around to find him on one knee. I was completely shocked."
Kristina's favorite photo of the day ... as her father passed her over to Michael. *cue the tears
"Everything went perfectly for our wedding. We didn’t have a single hiccup or issue. I think this was largely due to our amazing catering company, Dean and Brown, which went above and beyond and provided the most amazing service to us and our wedding guests."
Advice to couples planning their wedding ...
"Stay true to what you want. If you are planning on keeping everything within a specific budget, you can absolutely achieve this. You’ll have to do your research but use your resources. Friends who are already married are great, because they can give you advice on their experiences and will give you honest feedback on their vendors. Talking to a friend is how I found my wedding photographer and I love her! She was the best decision we made for our wedding!"
